Georgia “Vi” Davin, 97, of Garnett, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at Golden Heights Living Center. Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 27, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Inurnment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Vi was born Saturday, February 22, 1919, in Garnett, the daughter and last survivor of 10 siblings of Charles and Grace (Gorrell) Ashburn. She was raised in Garnett, moving to Kansas City, Missouri, from 1962 to 1976; Pomona, Kansas, from 1976 to 2002; and then returned to Garnett, where she made her home until her death. Vi was united in marriage with John Raymond Davin December 24, 1961, in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death September 25, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two granddaughters, Debbie Barker and Alesia Carder. Survivors include her three children, Bob Barker and wife Susan of Vero Beach, Florida, Phyllis Miller and husband George of Clinton, Missouri, and Marsha Carder and husband Greg of Oak Grove, Missouri; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Vi was employed with H.D. Lee in Ottawa, as a seamstress for many years. She retired in 1984. She was a member of the First Christian Church, and former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 6397 both of Garnett. Vi enjoyed crocheting, crafts and playing card games with her friends at Park Place and Golden Heights, both of Garnett.
