Georgia Orris

Georgia Orris, 94, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 10, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Georgia was born February 22, 1927, in Long Beach, California, the daughter of George Washington and Emma Matilda (Thompson) Taylor. She lived in California until moving to Franklin County in 1990. Georgia graduated from high school with the Class of 1945 in Long Beach, California and competed one year at Long Beach State College. She was a member of the Ottawa Church of Latter-Day Saints. On October 31, 1957, Georgia was united in marriage to Clifford Raymond Orris at Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1993. Georgia did mostly office work in California, working five or six years for Craig Electronics; helped her husband with custodial work and working with horses; and worked from 1993 until 2003 as a greeter for Walmart in Ottawa and Lawrence. She enjoyed shopping, dining out, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Taylor; daughter, Linda Yanez; sons, Terry Orris and Gary Orris; and two sisters, Virginia Stover and Dorothy Beckner. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Duncan (Lonnie) of Ottawa, KS; son, Darwin Orris (Joyce) of IA; six grandchildren, Lonnie Lee Duncan, John Yanez, Ricky Duncan, Jim Duncan, Brian Yanez, and Garret Yanez; nineteen great grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
