Georgia Annetta Stevanus was born May 9, 1910, at Richards, Missouri. She was the daughter of Thomas G. and Cora (Koonz) Strole. Georgia lived in Fulton, Kansas from 1910 until moving to Pleasanton, Kansas in 1943. In 1997, she moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at the age of ninety-four years. Georgia graduated from Fulton (Kansas) High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kansas. She was a homemaker, school teacher, and librarian. She taught school many years in Fulton, Pleasanton, and some country schools. After retiring from teaching, she was a librarian at the Pleasanton City Library, retiring in 1987. She was a member of Pleasanton Methodist Church, and a former member of the Pleasanton Lady Lions Club and the Pleasanton Lincoln Club. Georgia was a very caring person. She loved children and enjoyed her years of teaching. She delivered Meals on Wheels when she lived in Pleasanton and enjoyed visiting with everyone. She was deeply devoted to her church, where she faithfully played the organ for many years. On December 22, 1935, Georgia was united in marriage with C. Robert Stevanus at Fulton, Kansas. He preceded her in death May 3, 1999. She is also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Leta Theising, Loretta Hamby, Glenna Fern Rupar; and, grandson, William A. Stevanus. Mrs. Stevanus is survived by her son, Bob Stevanus and his wife, Lola, of Ottawa; daughter, Patricia E. Ledson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter, Marci Dreher and her husband, John, of Spring Hill, Tennessee; grandson, Gary Stevanus of Baldwin, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Mia Nicole Dreher of Spring Hill, Tennessee; and, great-grandson, Max Anthony Dreher of Spring Hill, Tennessee. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Schneider-Coffel Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Kansas, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2004. OFFICIANT: Rev. Dale Thiele. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Stevanus at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday. Family will meet with friends one hour before the funeral service, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 4, at Schneider-Coffel Funeral Home.
