George Vernon Louderback

George Vernon Louderback, Sr., was born September 15, 1920, at Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was the son of Roy H. and Mildred (Land) Louderback. A lifelong resident, he made his home in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, until his death Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at the age of eighty-one years. He attended Princeton High School with the class of 1941. George worked thirty years as an operator at the Ottawa Power Plant, retiring in 1982. During World War II, George served from September 10, 1942, until October 26, 1946, in the 8th Air Force, as an aviation technician loading planes, attaining the rank of Corporal. His tour of duty included the European Theater. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ottawa, and former member of Princeton Christian Church. He was also a member of Ottawa Lodge #18, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons. One of George's favorite outdoor sports was fishing, and he enjoyed camping and caring for his vegetable garden. He was an avid wrestling fan and liked to play cards. Most of all, George loved and enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and taking their photographs. On March 31, 1942, George was united in marriage with Allie Fae Plake at Princeton, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1966. On September 8, 1984, George was united in marriage with Dorothy Dean Moore at Princeton, Kansas. She preceded him in death on August 15, 1997. Also preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Judith Huse; and brother, Chester Louderback. He is survived by his son, George Louderback, Jr. and his wife, Clara, of Vassar; daughter, Pamela Sue Fischer and her husband, Richard, of Ottawa; stepson, Don Hull and his wife, Betty, of Kansas City; stepdaughter, Diana Moore of Ottawa; stepson, Gary Hull and his wife, Patty, of Edwardsville; brother, Elmer Louderback and his wife, Velma, of Princeton; sister, Gladys Welton of Ottawa; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2001. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Francis Stockton. IN STATE: Mr. Louderback will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary until service hour, where family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Princeton Cemetery in Princeton, Kansas, with military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901.
