George V. Louderback, Jr., 69, a longtime Ottawa and Pomona, Kansas, resident passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 20, 2015, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, with military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard. George was born Sunday, September 8, 1946, in Ottawa, the son of George Sr. and Allie Fae (Plake) Louderback. He was a longtime Ottawa and Pomona, Kansas resident. George was united in marriage with Clara Neibauer October 18, 1969, in Ottawa. She survives of their home. Other survivors include his two sons, Brian Louderback of Gardner and Allen Louderback and wife Kelly also of Gardner; sister, Pam Fischer and husband Rick of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; and five grandchildren, Abigail Louderback of Gardner, Brandon Crowley of Olathe, Kylee, Karsen, and Ryen Louderback all of Gardner. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Allie Louderback; parents, George and Allie Louderback; and sister, Judy Huse. George served in the United States Navy during Vietnam from May 1967 to November 1970. His decorations and citations included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with the bronze star, Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, and the Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon. Following his military service, George was employed by Commodore Mobile Homes in Ottawa as an electrician during the early 1970s. He later worked for Santa Fe Railroad as a machine operator from the early 1970s to late 1980s. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Ottawa Lodge 803 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Williamsburg Wildlife Club, Vietnam Veterans of America local chapter 912, and Disabled American Veterans. George loved his family and grandchildren and especially enjoyed their time together during the holidays. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, watching sports and John Wayne western movies.
