George T. Howe, 82, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. He was born on Sunday, August 24, 1930, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Edwin and Eugenia Howe. George was a lifelong Ottawa resident. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1948. George served in the United States Marine Corps and served his country from 1951 to 1953. During his service he received numerous awards and citations including the China Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal with 4 stars; and the United Nations Service Medal. After his military service, George owned and operated several milk routes for thirty years. He then hauled hay and worked for several service stations. He later operated an auto mechanic shop in Baldwin City and from 1997 to 2005 he owned and operated George’s Feed & Bike Shop in Ottawa and later Richmond, retiring in 2005. He attended Union Chapel Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his: Parents – Edwin & Eugenia Howe Brother – William Howe SERVICES: Graveside Inurnment Service will be held at 10:00 A.M.
