G. H. 'Red' Cline was born on Wednesday, April 20, 1938, in Fort Scott, Kansas. He was the son of Oral and Edna (Jolliff) Cline. Red lived in Olathe, Kansas before moving to Ottawa in 1996, where he made his home until his death on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the age of seventy years. He worked thirty years as a truck driver for Roadway Express Corporation, retiring in 1998. He was very proud of being a million mile safe driver. Red served in the United States Air Force from December of 1960 until June of 1964. He was a member of the Power of the Past and of many black powder gun clubs. On January 12, 2001 Red was united in marriage with Phyllis (Martin) Rea at Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is also survived by a son and his wife, Martin and Mary Jo Cline and their two daughters of Olathe, Kansas; two sisters, Dorothy Roberts of Max Creek, Missouri and Vesta Holloway of Oroville, California; a brother and his wife, Bob and Della Cline, of Fairview, Missouri; nine step children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ed Cline and Bill Cline; and sister, Shirley Price. SERVICES: Graveside funeral services will be held from Evergreen Mound Cemetery, 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2008. IN STATE: Mr. Cline will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to the service hour where the family will meet with friends 9 a.m. Monday prior to the service.
