George H. Mell

George H. Mell, age 93, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at his home. He was born on Thursday, September 18, 1919, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, the son of Henry and Anna (VanVooren) Mell. George has lived in fourteen different states and has lived in Ottawa since 1974. He attended a rural school in Wagoner, Oklahoma through the 8th grade. On August 9, 1946 George was united in marriage with Helen Johnson in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death July 26, 2004. George worked for Carrothers Construction for thirty-seven years as a Field Superintendent, building water plants and waste water plants, retiring in 1985. George served in the United States Air Force during World War II from December 1941 to August 1945. He is survived by his: Son – George “Tim” Mell and wife Nancy of Ottawa, Kansas Grandson – Joshua Mell Granddaughter – Kayla Mell Brother – John Mell of Wagoner, Oklahoma Brother – Walter Mell of Tulsa, Oklahoma Sister – Judy Ritz of Muskogee, Oklahoma He is preceded in death by his: Parents – Henry and Anna Mell Wife – Helen Mell CEMETERY: Inurnment will be held at a later date.
