G. Edward McKinnis, 83, of Ottawa, Kansas died on Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was the son of George McKinnis and Irene (Foster) McKinnis . He was born on Saturday, May 23, 1925, in Rosedale, Kansas. RESIDENCE HISTORY: He grew up in Springfield, Missouri in the Grandview area. In 1954 he moved to Girard and to Ottawa in 1966. EDUCATION: Edward graduated from high school in Springfield, Missouri with the class of 1943. He also attended Southern Missouri State University for two years. OCCUPATION & BUSINESS: He was owner and operator of T. & W. Refrigeration and Heating from 1966 until his retirement in 2003. GOVERNMENT SERVICE: Edward served his country in the United States Coast Guard from May 1943 until April 1946 attaining the rank of Seaman First Class. MEMBERSHIPS: He was a member of Ottawa Lodge #18 A. F. & A. M. and the Franklin County Shrine Club. MARRIAGE: On April 21, 1946 Edward was united in marriage with Mary E. Thompson at New York, New York. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Private family services will be held at a later date. CEMETERY: Girard Cemetery.
