George E. Shuster, 82, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Friday, October 23, 2015, at the mortuary. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas. George was born Monday, March 6, 1933, in Platte City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Nannie (Kitchen) Shuster. He was a near lifelong Kansas City area resident moving in 1976 to Bonner Springs, Kansas. In 1992, George moved to Pomona, where he made his home until his death. He attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas, with the class of 1951. George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from November 1952 to August 1955. He served in the Korean War as a Corporal. His decorations and citations included the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. After his service in the Marine Corps he attended trade school where he obtained an electrician’s certificate. George was united in marriage with Caroleanna Ellis June 15, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his four children, Michael Shuster and wife Cheryl of Pomona, Cathy Wickam of Pomona, Mark Shuster and wife Vickie of Tonganoxie, and Jeffrey Shuster and wife Eileen of Flower Mound, Texas; sister, Frances Rickey of Leavenworth; son-in-law, Danny Reynolds of Pomona; seventeen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Reynolds; parents, Charles and Nannie Shuster; and two brothers, Edward and Jim Shuster. George was employed as a master electrician for Proctor & Gamble in Kansas City, Kansas, for thirty-three years, retiring May 1992. He had special training in computer systems for boilers and power generators and would be dispatched nationwide to plants experiencing difficulties. For ten years, he was the owner-operator of George’s TV Repair also in Kansas City, Kansas. Upon retirement, he and his wife purchased 160 acres south of Pomona and built a home where he had a cow and calf operation. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901, International Chemical Workers Union Local 217 in Kansas City, where he served as union president from 1989 to 1992. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. The family suggests memorial contributions to Vitas Hospice or Wounded Warrior Project c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
