George Barry Landers, age 81, of Louisburg, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at North Point Skilled Nursing, Paola, Kansas.
Cremation is planned with no services.
Barry was born on Tuesday, October 6, 1942, in Smithville, Missouri. He was the son of John Dalton and Georgalee (Fossati) Landers.
Barry proudly served his county in the United States Army. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in science from Southern Illinois University. He was the proud father of two daughters, Carrie and Jolie.
Barry worked as a commercial airline pilot. He started with Air California in 1978. Air California was later acquired by American Airlines. Barry was a Captain for American Airlines until his retirement in 2002.
Barry enjoyed the quiet life on the farm with his two Golden Retrievers: Woody and Charlie.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Georgalee Landers, and sister, Karen Martin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Carrie (Shawn) Bartholomew, of Olathe, Kansas, and Jolie (Richard) Collins, of Louisburg, Kansas, five grandchildren; Brittni Collins, Makayla Collins, Tanner Bartholomew, Trevor Bartholomew and Bryce Collins, one great grandson, Bensen, and cousin, Dwight (Ann) Chernish.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made payable to Wounded Warrior Project or Great Plains SPCA, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, P.O. Box 669, Louisburg, Kansas 66053.
