Gean R. Brown, age 65, of rural Paola, Kansas, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Olathe Medical Center. Gean was born April 13, 1948 at the White House Nursing Home in Paola, Kansas. He was the oldest child of Gean and Nadine (Jackson) Brown. He graduated from Spring Hill High School with the Class of 1967. In 1965, Gean boxed in the Golden Gloves, and he joined the United States Army in 1968. On August 4, 1972, Gean and Diana Glaze were married in the Lutheran Church at Paola. Gean was a welder and mechanic for the Operating Engineers Local 101 for 37 years and retired in 2008. He was an avid reader enjoying non-fiction, especially World War II stories. He also liked to hunt and went to Wyoming for many years to hunt deer with his family and he went to Canada to hunt moose with his close friends. He was known as a history buff, especially when it came to World War II and airplanes. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Roger, and his grandson Tyler. He is survived, loved and missed by his wife Diana of the home; his children Gary Brown (Colleen) of Topeka, Carrie Milne-Brill of Wichita, Casey Brown (Jennie) of Greeley, and Coby Brown (Lindsay) of Osawatomie; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters Linda Fender of Wichita and Candy Mogel of Herington; one brother John Dater of Sedgwick; many other relatives and friends. Memorials are to the St. Jude Children"s Research Hospital.
