Gary Lee Skiles

Gary Lee Skiles, age 75, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Monday, April 17, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 18, 2023, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place following the service at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.

Gary was born on November 22, 1947, the son of Clarence and Edith (Stump) Skiles. He grew up and attended school in Salem, Missouri. Gary graduated from Salem High School with the class of 1965.

On March 16, 1968, he was united in marriage to Susan Lavy, in Rolla, Missouri. They shared 45 years together.

Gary started his working career as a construction supervisor in St. Louis, Missouri. He later moved and became the city inspector for Branson and Hollister, Missouri. Gary moved to Ottawa in 1997, he was the inspector for the City of Ottawa until he retired in 2013. He finished his working career at Midwest RV with his son-in-law, retiring in December of 2022.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Susan Skiles, his father, Clarence Skiles, and one infant sister.

Survivors include five children, daughter Nichole Hunsaker and husband Mike of Taneyville, Missouri, daughter, Catharine Skiles and Lawrence Kaub of Ottawa, Kansas, daughter, Victoria Lisk and husband Buddy of Salina, Kansas, son, Michael Skiles and wife Nautasha of Pomona, Kansas, and daughter, Elizabeth Humphrey of Missouri, 9 grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlyn and Dylan Hunsaker, Dawson and Kinleigh Kaub, Isabella and Cooper Lisk, Aiden Criqui, and Trevor Lichtenauer, two great grandchildren, Addalyn and Natalie Hunsaker, mother, Edith Skiles of Salem, Missouri, siblings, Joyce Davis, Dennis Skiles, Darrell Skiles and Sherri Skiles, all of Missouri.
