Gary Dean Davis, 75, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Ottawa Retirement Village.Funeral services will be held at Dengel Son Mortuary, 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 5, 2014.Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Davis at the mortuary after 1:00 P.M. Sunday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday.Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.Gary was born on Tuesday, August 9, 1938 in Linwood, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Velma (Troutman) Davis.He lived in Ottawa since 1958, moving from Williamsburg.He graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1956.On June 28, 1958, Gary was united in marriage with Wanda Nitcher in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. Survivors also include his two sons, Steven Davis of Ottawa and Ron Davis and wife Trina of Topeka; five grandchildren, Chris and Amy Campbell, Lisa and Kevin Davis and Amanda Lohman; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Campbell; parents; and two brothers, Raymond and Richard Davis.He worked for Western Resources, as an inspector, for twenty-five years retiring in 1995.Gary served in the Kansas National Guard.He was a member of the Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and Ottawa Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles.Gary will be remembered as a kind and caring person who loved spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of his family and friends forever.
