Gary D. Horne, 78, of Quenemo, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center with his family by his side. Cremation is planned. Family will meet with friends at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Memorial services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Inurnment Pleasant View Cemetery, Agricola, Kansas Gary was born Thursday, January 30, 1936, in Waverly, Kansas, the son of Arnel and Hattie (Mietchen) Horne. He has been a lifelong resident of Osage and Franklin counties. He attended Melvern High School, Melvern, Kansas. Gary was united in marriage with Kathryn Margaret Decker July 3, 1954 in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Elston D. Horne of Williamsburg, Jeanine Cameron and husband James of Melvern, and Leanna Horne of Ottawa; three siblings, Charles Horne and wife Pat of Vassar, Janice Thomas and husband Louis of Lyndon, and Terry McFadden and husband Gail of Olathe; nine grandchildren, Jason Cameron and wife Angie, Gary “Nathan” Cameron and wife Dawn, Jon Horne, Heather Froggatte and husband Matt, Brian Boeger and wife Brandy, Angela Boeger and companion Marshall Silvey, Jeremy Branson and wife Kealy, Jessica Griffith and husband John, and Jacob Branson and wife Jamie; and twenty-two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gene Horne. Gary worked for Duke Manufacturing in the early 1980’s to late 1990’s as a finisher. He was also a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed building things and if anything was broken, he was the man to see to fix it. He loved to fish with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking the kids for rides on the gator. Gary was an active member of the Power of the Past Tractor Club, Williamsburg Booster Club, and Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Gary will be remembered for his love of family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and the time they spent together. He was loved by many and will be missed and fondly remembered.
