Garry Rush

January 24, 1942 — August 10, 2015

Garry Wayne Rush, age 73, of Osawatomie, Kansas originally from Jasper, Missouri, went to be with the Lord August 10, 2015. Garry was born January 24, 1942 in Carthage, Missouri. He was the oldest of five children born to Theodore Sylvester and Mildred Leola (Johnston) Rush. Garry grew up in rural Jasper, Missouri and graduated from Jasper High School with the Class of 1960. He was vice president of Jasper FFA. Working for implement companies, truck driving, and auto parts sales were among those of Garry's initial jobs right out of high school. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Pyle on December 1, 1961 in the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church in Jasper County, Missouri. They made their home in Jasper and became the parents of five children. In 2011 Garry and Mary moved to Osawatomie, Kansas. Garry received his calling to ministry in the 1970s and served in that capacity in several states including Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Mid-America Nazarene College in Olathe, KS and also attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs as well as the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Garry and Mary were very active with the Golden Bell Camp and Conference Center in Divide, Colorado. They worked on the staff full time from 1994 through 1996 and volunteered in the summers of 2012 and 2013. Garry's hobbies included collecting scale-model Case and International tractors, traveling, reading, and he also enjoyed nature. In his younger years, he loved horses and was a member of the Jasper Saddle Club. He was a member of the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary of the home; his children Beth Agostini and her husband Tony of San Diego, California, Gara Chisam and her husband Doug of rural Parker, Kansas, Scott Rush of Olathe, Amy Workman and her husband Rodney of Haxtun, Colorado, and Megan Rush of Littleton, Colorado; two brothers Butch Rush of Lamar, Missouri and Gaylen Rush and his wife Jan of Jasper County, Missouri; two sisters Margaret Burnside and her husband Jarel of Oronogo, Missouri and Janice DeGraff of Jasper, Missouri; 9 grandchildren Alyssa Madden (Zach), Austin Chisam, Joseph and Benjamin Agostini, Dillon and Wyatt Workman, Rachel and Joshua Broeren, and Sarah Rush; and one great grandson Rhett Madden.
