Garry M. VanValkenburg, age 67, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Monday, August 31, 2009. He was born on Friday, December 26, 1941, in Williamsburg, Kansas. He was the son of Lee Eldon and Nona Nadine (Martin) VanValkenburg-Pavlacic. He grew up in the Williamsburg area. He also lived in California moving to Ottawa in the mid 1980’s. Garry graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1960. He worked on the assembly line for Ford Motor Co. in Claycomo, Missouri in the 1960’s; as a lineman for General Power & Electric in Oakland, California in the 1970’s; and as an auto mechanic in the 1980’s. He served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1966, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. Garry and his wife, Juanita Foster, have shared twenty-five years together. She survives of their home. His survivours include: Wife-Juanita Foster of the home Three Children Three Stepchildren Sister-Judee Thornbrugh & her husband, Jim, of Waverly, Kansas Twin Brother-Harry VanValkenburg & his wife, Virginia, of Independence, Missouri Sister-Sue Stevenson & her husband, Raymond, of Clearwater, Florida Fourteen grandchildren including special grandson, Casey Rhodes, of Lane, Kansas Three great-grandchildren He is preceded in death by his: Father-Lee Eldon VanValkenburg Mother-Nona Nadine (Martin) VanValkenburg-Pavlacic Brother-Dallas VanValkenburg Brother-Keith VanValkenburg SERVICES: Memorial services with Military Honors by U.S. Navy will be held from the Pilgrim Bible Church, 316 E. 12th St. in Ottawa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009.
