Garry Lee Stevenson, age 79, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Wellsville Retirement Community in Wellsville, Kansas. He was born on Saturday, January 28, 1933, in Lane, Kansas, the son of William “Bill” and Linnette (Miskimen) Stevenson. He lived in Lane and Osawatomie, moving to Ottawa in 1958. Garry graduated from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1950. He was an auto mechanic for thirty-five years for numerous Ford dealerships in Ottawa, retiring in 1992. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed setting limb lines on the Marais des Cygnes River. Garry served in the United States Navy from May of 1950 to December of 1953, during the Korean War. On Saturday, November 15, 1958, Garry was united in marriage with Dorothy Helen Brand in Osawatomie, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife – Dorothy Helen Stevenson of the home Son – David Stevenson and his wife, Christine, of Olathe, Kansas Son – Robert “Bob” Stevenson and is wife, Lisa, of Lawrence, Kansas Sister – Bonita Marcum of Phoenix, Arizona Grandchild – Michael Blocker Grandchild – Chad Smith Grandchild – Courtney Stevenson Great-Grandkids – Several He is preceded in death by his: Parents – William “Bill” and Linnette Stevenson One Brother SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be held at a later date. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to V.F.W. National Headquarters, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
