Garry E. Johnson, age 62, passed away July 5, 2014 at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola, Kansas. Garry was born May 17, 1952 to Gib and Helen Johnson (Johns) in Ottawa, Kansas. Most people knew him as JJ. He belonged to the Boiler Makers Union and worked for Taylor Forge Engineered Systems in Paola, KS most of his adult life until he became disabled. JJ was an avid collector of many things. He enjoyed fishing, wildlife documentaries, garage selling and he loved to eat at Long John Silvers, however he pronounced it "Silvies". He loved animals and everything John Deere. JJ was well known for giving everyone he knew a nickname. JJ was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice Zander and Margie Minor; nephew, Mica Vantrece and his son, Jason Johnson, which was a loss that was very difficult for him. He is survived by daughters, Wendy Guilfoyle and Patricia Courtney and sons, Joe Johnson and Robbie Johnson all of Osawatomie; daughter, Stacey Johnson Achey of Paola; mother of Garry"s children, Bonita Johnson; brother, Gib Johnson and sister, Rosie Guilbeau both of Osawatomie; brother, Jim Johnson and sister, Diana Cox both of Paola; brother, David Johnson of Ottawa; sister, Millie Joeckel of Nixa, MO; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
