Frederick Ray "Fred" Knight

Frederick R. “Fred” Knight, 65, of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 28, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Inurnment Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas. Fred was born Saturday, April 1, 1950, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Elton Ray and Ona Lee (Barta) Knight. He was a lifelong Wellsville resident. He graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1968. Survivors include his mother, Ona Knight Harris of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; two brothers, Gary Knight of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri and Frank Knight and wife Judy of Lenexa, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elton Knight. Fred worked on the family farm and was also a laborer doing general construction on pole barns and roofing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also involved in bowling and was known as one of the best pitchers in fast pitch softball.
