Frederick Ray “Fred” Ferguson, 86, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
Family will greet friends 5:30-7:30pm, Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the funeral home.

Fred was born Friday, February 11, 1938, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Edward and Vera (Potter) Ferguson.
He was a lifelong Ottawa resident graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1956.
Fred was united in marriage to Marlene M. Carey on September 20, 1959, in Ottawa, Kansas. They shared sixty-three years of marriage together. Marlene preceded him in death on April 27, 2023.
He served in the Army National Guard in the 1960s during the Vietnam War.
Fred worked as a mechanic with Underwood Equipment in Ottawa in the late 1950s to late 1960s. He also worked for Kansas Gas Service in Baldwin City, Kansas and Ottawa, Kansas for over thirty years working thru all positions before becoming a supervisor in the mid-1980s before retiring in 1995.
He was a life member of the Ottawa Lodge 803 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and local union president for United Steel Workers Local 15162. Fred also coached youth football at Lincoln Elementary School in the early 1970s.
Fred enjoyed golfing, hunting, woodworking, and working cattle. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Along with his wife Marlene, Fred was preceded in death by parents Edward and Vera; and brothers Larry Ferguson, Eddie Ferguson, and Roger Ferguson.
Survivors include sons Brad Ferguson (Annette) of Wellsville, Kansas and Rick Ferguson (Kathy) of Ottawa; brother Bill Ferguson (Rhonda) of Pomona, Kansas; grandchildren Matthew Ferguson (Lindy) of Wellsville, Kansas, Andrew Ferguson (Brittni) of Ottawa, Kansas, Shelby Henke (Ryan) of Lawrence, Kansas, MaKenna Manis (Ben) of Williamsburg, Kansas, great grandchildren Fredrick Ferguson, Thomas Ferguson, Elijah Ferguson, Elsie Ferguson, Bristol Manis, and Audree Manis; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
