Fred I. Kaub, 90, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Family will meet with friends from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the North Baptist Church, 413 E. Wilson, Ottawa. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the church. Interment Pleasant Hill Cemetery, west of Centropolis, with military honors by the United States Marine Corps. Fred was born Saturday, September 17, 1927, in Ottawa, the son of Ernest Elroy and Helen Irene (Mulvaney) Kaub. He was a lifelong Ottawa area resident. He graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1945. Fred was united in marriage to Ruth Lorene Klein June 11, 1950, in Ottawa. She survives of the home. Fred served stateside during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps from December 1951 to December 1953 attaining the rank of Sergeant. Other survivors include his two sons, Fred E. Kaub of Ottawa and Steven R. Kaub and wife Loretto of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandson, Brian Kaub of Blue Springs, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and H. Irene Kaub; and three brothers, Elroy J. Kaub, Frank C. Kaub, and twin brother Floyd I. Kaub. Fred was employed as a TV repairman for Keen Company in Ottawa from 1961 to 1966. He was an electrician for Hercules Sunflower Ordinance Plant in De Soto from 1966 to 1986. He was a lifelong member of North Baptist Church. Fred helped with the construction of the church when it was built at its current location. Fred’s favorite hobby was fishing. He enjoyed camping, boating, traveling and was very creative and inventive. The family suggests memorial contributions to North Baptist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
