Fred Edwin Armstrong age 82 of Paola passed away March 31 at the Olathe Medical Center.(cremation)Private Services. Memorials may be made to the Wayside Waifs www.waysidewaifs.org 3901 Martha Truman Rd. KC. MO. 64137 Fred was born May 19, 1928 in Columbus Kansas to Charles and Pearl Edgmand Armstrong. He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1944. Fred enlisted in the United States Navy and served two years before receiving his honorable discharge. He received his BS in Pharmacy at the University of Illinois-Chicago. On September 13, 1985 he was united in marriage to Vicki Peuser. Fred was a Pharmacist for 66 years before retiring. He worked in Chicago, Getz Pharmacy in Kansas City Missouri for over 25 years, Miami County Medical Center in Paola for 8 years and part time for Price Chopper. His hobbies were reading, traveling ,avid KU basketball fan, watching football, watching grandchildren in all of their activities, enjoyed animals dogs and cats,playing games, and had a great memory. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers John, and Robert sister Marie Clinesmith and daughter Penny. Survivors include his wife Vicki Armstrong of the home, daughter Pamela and husband Stephen Overman of Lenexa, daughter Pat and husband Donnie Simpson of Columbus KS., daughter Alison Armstrong and husband Mark Scudder of Lincoln NE., step-daughter Nancy Williamson and husband John of Pittsburgh PA., sister Grace Moody of Olathe, sister June Mitts of Topeka, brother Carl Armstrong of Port Orchard WA., 5 grandchildren, Bryan Simpson, Chris Overman, Dr.Kelly Overman Herbster, Jana Long, Emma Scudder, great grandchild Luke Long and step grandchildren J.M. Williamson and Robb Williamson. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
