Francis "Deas" Barbour, Jr., 70, of Paola, KS., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Kansas City Hospice House after a very brief battle with Brain Cancer. He was surrounded in love by his Family. Family Eulogy 8 PM Tuesday at the Lighthouse Church. (Cremation) Deas was born June 26, 1941 in Laurel, MS. to Francis Deas Barbour Sr. and Rebecca McCormick Barbour who preceded him in death. He lived in the south throughout his early years moving annually with family and his father"s job. He moved to Kansas City in 1959 where he attended and graduated from Bishop Miege High School and was looking forward to the 50th class reunion in September. He joined the Marine Corps in 1962 and served in the reserves 4 years. Deas worked for Ford Motor Company and Missouri Pacific Railroad but his real passion was farming and raising cattle which he did for the last 30+ years. He enjoyed his early morning coffee with the "boys" in Paola, Mound City and Blue Mound and riding his "Harley". But his greatest love was sharing his life with his wife Marilyn. His true pride and joy were his sons and daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandson. His survivors include Marilyn, his devoted wife of 48 years, sons Kevin and wife Shannon Barbour of Paola, Kurt and wife Suzanne Barbour of Shawnee; brothers Dick and wife Carol of Leawood and Larry and wife Sharon of Conway, GA., sisters Ginny Barbour Seagle of Alpharetta, GA and Ann and husband Bruce Porter of Merrit Island, FL., seven grandchildren Steffani, Nick, Mikaila, Jackson, Maddie, Payton and Hayden and Kingston Deas, his great grandson along with many nieces and nephews. He will be joyfully remembered but sadly missed by all friends and family.
