Frances Rose Kaub

Frances Kaub, 50, of Ottawa, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2006, at St. Luke`s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, after a long illness. Frances was born in Ottawa, Kansas on Saturday, July 21, 1956, to Floyd and Betty (Carlson) Kaub. She attended Liberty Rural School, Lincoln Elementary School and Ottawa Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating in 1974. She also graduated from Ottawa University with a degree in English. She taught English in South Haven, Kansas for two years. Frances returned home to Ottawa and received her elementary certification from Ottawa University. She taught Title I reading at Appanoose School and then substituted in the West Franklin and Ottawa School districts. Frances also had worked at Parmalee Plastics in Ottawa, Allied Signal in Ottawa and Lawrence, and EFTC in Ottawa. Frances was very active in softball for many years. She played on a few women`s teams, coached girl`s softball, and was an umpire for women and men`s softball. Though unable to play due to her disability, she enjoyed going to the games of a close young friend in Garnett. Frances was a Christian and member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. Frances is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest and Irene Kaub, Henry and Naomi Carlson, and her father, Floyd I. Kaub. She is survived by her mother, Betty Kaub, of the home; brother, Floyd E. Kaub of Coffeyville, Kansas; sister, Becky Bright and her husband, Mike, of Chanute; two step nephews, Jeff Bright, currently stationed in Africa, Nick Bright of Independence, Kansas; and many cousins. Frances was a loving, caring, giving person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Frances at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:30 to 8:30 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Westminster Presbyterian Church Youth Group, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
