Frances Louise Ecord was born June 4, 1917, at Garnett, Kansas. She was the daughter of William Thomas and Emma Frances (Donaldson) Tinsley. Frances grew up east of Welda, Kansas, and moved to Franklin County in about 1954. She made her home in Pomona, Kansas, until her death Monday, February 10, 2003, at the age of eighty-five years. She attended schools in Anderson County. She worked twenty years as a seamstress at Mode O'Day in Ottawa, retiring in 1979. Frances was a member of Richter United Methodist Church and the quilting circle. Frances was an expert seamstress. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and quilting and created numerous beautiful items for her family and friends. She enjoyed drives in the country and seeing prior homes where she had lived and especially enjoyed driving to Missouri to buy pecans for her baking. On December 12, 1935, Frances was united in marriage with Louis Ellsworth Ecord at Erie, Kansas. He preceded her in death July 30, 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jessie Lickteig; three brothers, Thomas Ira Tinsley, James Oliver Tinsley, Robert William Tinsley; and, two grandsons, Terry Lee Mace and David Lee Ecord. She is survived by six daughters, Joan Geer of Garnett, Kansas, Eva Stone and her husband, Carl, of Williamsburg, Kansas, Lois Ecord of Topeka, Kansas, Jean Rossman and her husband, Don, of Pomona, Kansas, Ruth Trendel and her husband, Daryl, of Pomona, Kansas, Patti Fine and her husband, Dean, of Pomona, Kansas; two sons, Richard Ecord and his wife, Linda, of Pomona, Kansas, Ron Ecord and his wife, Vickie, of Monte Vista, Colorado; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; and, two great-great-grandchildren.
