Frances Alt

Frances Anne (Grimes) Alt, age 84, of Paola, Kansas, passed away April 8, 2018 at Olathe Hospice House. Frances was born November 10, 1933 in Paola, Kansas to Floyd Joseph and Lillian Frances Oyster Grimes. She was raised in Paola, Kansas and attended Paola Elementary and Paola Middle Schools and graduated from Paola High School in 1951. She attended the University of Kansas and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. In 1954, she married Michael Laird Alt at the First Presbyterian Church in Paola. Frances and Michael lived a short time in Wichita, Kansas and Little Rock, Arkansas and then Chillicothe, Missouri for 17 years. A transfer took Frances and Michael to Overland Park, Kansas and in 1972, they moved to Paola, Kansas. Frances returned to school in 1976 to become a nurse. She continued her love for nursing until 2013. She was a deacon and an elder and member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a P.E.O. member for 64 years (initiated in 1954) and an active volunteer at the church thrift shop. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, David Dean Alt. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Richard Crosetti; her son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Linda Alt; brothers and sisters-in-law David and Sarah Grimes and Floyd and Mary Ann Grimes; sister and brother-in-law Lillie and Max Larsen; and granddaughter and her husband Kate and Austin Clinton; great grandsons Karter and Reid; and great granddaughter Harper. Visitation will be 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. and a Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, 110 E. Peoria St., Paola, KS. A private inurnment will take place at Paola Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
