Floyd Edward Meier was born May 14, 1931, at Holton, Kansas. He was the son of Henry and Augusta (Conrade) Meier. He grew up in the Holton area, lived in Topeka after high school, in the 1960`s moved to Mission, Kansas, and to Ottawa in 1969. He was a resident of the Ottawa-Williamsburg area, until his death Thursday, March 14, 2002, at the age of seventy years. Floyd graduated from Holton High School with the class of 1951. In earlier years, Floyd was a delivery truck driver for Holsum Bread Company of Kansas City and Butter Crust Bread Company of Topeka, and also worked at Goodyear Tire in Topeka. For ten years Floyd and his wife co-managed a direct sales organization called Kitchen Craft before moving to Ottawa to begin farming. He worked as a welder at Ottawa Truck from 1989 until retiring in 1995. In 1951 Floyd enlisted in the Marines and achieved the rank of Corporal before being honorably discharged in 1959. On February 19, 1954 Floyd was united in marriage with Anna M. Davidson at Topeka, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by three sons, Dan Meier, of North Kansas City, Missouri, Dean Meier and his wife ,Jeanette, of Parkville Missouri, and Doug Meier, of Ottawa; two daughters, Dottie Blake and her husband, Joe, of Garnett, Kansas, and Debra Meier, of the home; three brothers, Charles Meier and John Meier, both of Topeka, Kansas, and Virgil Meier, San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Geneva Anderson, Holton, Kansas and Mary Schafer, Russell, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jesse Blake, Elizabeth Blake, Ryan Meier, Megan Meier, and Emily Meier; and Ryan`s mother Cindy Meier. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Meier and Sylvester Meier; brother-in-law, Art Anderson; one niece and one nephew. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Clyde Greisen IN STATE: Mr. Meier will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Ks., after 3 p.m. Saturday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends 7-8 p.m. Monday evening.
