Florence Irene Downey

Florence Irene Downey, age 100, passed away August 23, 2015 at Blackhawk Assisted Living in Spring Hill, Kansas. Florence was born June 17, 1915 at Somerset, Kansas to John Gottlieb and Bertha Flake Zebert. She was married to Louie J. Downey November 11, 1936 at Atchison, Kansas. They made their home on a farm near Lake Miola. Louie passed away March 11, 1976. They operated the lunch stand at the Paola Market Sale for 18 years, where Price Chopper is located. Florence stayed on the farm until December 19, 1999 when she sold the farm and moved to an apartment in Paola, Kansas. Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers Otto, Amel, Louis, and August; and four sisters Ora Fort, Helen Williams, Elsie Brocker, and Erma McCaskey. She is survived by nieces and nephews Bonnie Debrick, J. C. McCaskey, Jerry Gillogly, and Sharon Morgan.
