Florence E. "Flo" Lyon

Florence E. “Flo” Lyon, 89, of Wellsville, KS, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Olathe Health Hospice House. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Rosary will be held at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at the church, followed by a visitation for family and friends from 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery, at Scipio, Garnett, KS 66032. Flo was born August 9, 1932, at Richmond, KS, the daughter of Alfred and Emma (Roeckers) Wiesner. She lived most of her life in Richmond, graduating from Richmond High School with the Class of 1950. On September 2, 1950, Flo was united in marriage to Elden Lyon in Richmond. They were happily married 71 years. Flo was the owner/operator of Flo’s Fabrics & Dry Goods in Richmond, from 1973 to 1979. In 1979, Flo and Elden moved to Wellsville, KS. She was a member of St. Teresa’s Altar Society, taught CCD and was a marriage prep counselor for many years. Flo was also a member of the Crescent Club in Wellsville and Fit & Fun Wellsville Card Club. She volunteered at the Wellsville Library and Wellsville Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed crochet, reading and cooking. Flo loved her family and always looked forward to the time they spent together. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Richard Lyon, and three siblings, Alfred Wiesner, Thelma Cummings and Sister Emerentia Wiesner. Survivors include her husband Elden Lyon of the home; four children, Robert Lyon (Sally) of Fresno, CA, Marge Humphrey (Craig) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Steve Lyon (Erin) Osawatomie, KS, and Larry Lyon (Marianne) of Chaska, MN; five siblings, Marion Regier of Newton, KS, Velma O’Brien of Bakersville, CA, John Wiesner (Mitzi) of Garnett, KS, Rose Haynes (Fred) of Lane, KS, and Frances DeJarnett (Elroy) of Bedford, TX; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
