Fleta I. Heck, age 86, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, September 17, 2011, in Ottawa. She was born on Thursday, July 16, 1925, in Council Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Oscar Albert and Pearl Rose (Berry) Butter. She was a resident of Ottawa since 1947. Fleta graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1943. She was a homemaker. She also worked as a seamstress and machine operator for H.D. Lee in Ottawa twenty-seven years, retiring in January of 1989. After retiring, she worked at the North Dairy Queen for fifteen years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Ottawa, Sunday school, and Christian Women’s Fellowship. On Saturday, April 20, 1946, Fleta was united in marriage with Charles R. Heck in Olathe, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is survived by her: Husband-Charles R. Heck of the home; Son-Larry C. Heck and his wife, Janis, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son-Jake Heck of Lawrence, Kansas; Daughter-Rosemary Bien and her husband, Tim, of Pomona, Kansas; Daughter-Deloris Mavity of Ottawa, Kansas; Brother-Henry Butter and his wife, Gladys, of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-Edna Mae Adams of Williamsburg, Kansas; Grandchildren-Twelve and Gt.Grandchildren-Fourteen. She is preceded in death by her: Parents-Oscar Albert and Pearl Rose Butter; Brother-Hugh Butter; Brother-Larry Butter; Brother-Casey Butter; Brother-LeRoy Butter; Sister-Eva Butter and Sister-Eunice Butter. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. IN STATE: Mrs. Heck will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening. CEMETERY: Mt. Hope Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to First Christian Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
