Everett P. Long

Everett P. Long, age 85, formerly of Topeka, KS, died October 23, 2010 at Indian Creek Care Center, Overland Park, KS. He was born at Caldwell, KS, the son of David Burton and Rosa Stigers Long. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Nirschl on June 9, 1946 in Wellington, KS. Everett served in the United States Air Force retiring after 21 years, including service during WWII and the Korean War. He then worked for Del Monte for 21 years as a mechanic and forklift operator He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Long, his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Survivors include 2 sons, John Long and wife Marcilia and Everett Long; one daughter, Susan Rhodes and husband Dan; 1 brother, Glenn Long; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. " 8:00 p.m. at Penwell Gabel Louisburg Chapel, Louisburg, KS. Visitation in Topeka will be from 11:00 a.m. " 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28th at Mt. Hope Cemetery 4700 SW 17th Street Topeka, KS. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials may be given to your favorite charity. MT.
