Everett Lee Slifer, 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020, at Antioch Cemetery of Homewood. Everett was born July 30, 1936 at Osawatomie, Kansas, the son of Harold and Eva (Young) Slifer. He lived most of his life in Ottawa. He graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1954 and continued his education at Washburn University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and was later a C.P.A. Everett served in the United States Army in the mid-1950’s. Everett was united in marriage to Elsie Edgerton October 17, 1959 at Ottawa. They had 2 children and were happily married for nearly 61 years. In his early years Everett was employed at Hercules Power Plant, for several years he was a bookkeeper and accountant at Underwood Plumbing, and in the 1970’s he worked in the production department at Bingo Dog Food until his retirement in the 1990’s. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Everett enjoyed working on home projects, automobile designs, fishing, working on the farm, gardening, and being with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Elsie of Ottawa; two children, Michael (Lori) Slifer and Darold Slifer all of Ottawa; two brothers, Robert (Marlene) Slifer of Ottawa, and Ronnie (Jeanette) Slifer of Wichita; and two grandchildren, Christina Slifer and Michael "Mick" Slifer of Ottawa. The family suggests memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
