Everett Edward Ewing

Everett Edward Ewing, age 78, of Ottawa, Kan., died Friday, August 16, 2002, at his residence in Ottawa, Kan. He was the son of the late John Ewing and the late Flony (Richards) Ewing. He is also survived by his wife Cleta Mary Ewing. A long time Franklin County, Kansas resident, he moved to Ottawa in 1954 from the Princeton area, where he had lived since 1952, moving from Iola. Everett started school in Thayer then attended LaHarpe schools. He was employed as a mechanic with Raymond Shields Implement in Ottawa thirty years and worked at Ransom Memorial Hospital as a power plant engineer fourteen years, retiring in April of 1986, due to ill health. He had also farmed for three years from 1947 to 1950 and worked on the Santa Fe Railroad tracks for several years until 1954. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa. On June 15, 1942, Everett was united in marriage with Cleta Mary Stanford at Garnett, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2002, Calvary Baptist Church, Ottawa. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. William Weber and Pastor Jon Boyd. IN STATE: Mr. Ewing will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Saturday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Sunday evening. CEMETERY: Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Calvary Baptist Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
