Evelyn Mae Stapp

January 21, 1920 — February 21, 2007

Evelyn moved to the Kansas City area as a young child, living in the metro area until moving to Williamsburg in 1989. Evelyn graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri, with the class of 1938. She was a homemaker and proudly served as a Wyandotte County Deputy Assessor. She was an active member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where, for many years, she taught the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class, was a friend of the Williamsburg Library, and helped deliver `Meals on Wheels` for Franklin County, Kansas. While living in Kansas City, she served as a Democrat Precinct Committee Woman, was a volunteer for the Kansas City Kansas School District and an Honorary Life Member of the Kansas P.T.A. On August 20, 1942, Evelyn was united in marriage with Richard F. `Smiley` Stapp. They enjoyed sixty-three years together, until his passing on February 11, 2005. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Williamsburg United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2007. IN STATE: Mrs. Stapp will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, where family will meet with friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. CEMETERY: Mt Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas. MEMORIALS: It was Evelyn`s wish that any memorials be given to Williamsburg United Methodist Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through dengelmortuary@sbcglobal.net.
