Evelyn Mae Moore was born August 5, 1923, at Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Ray and Lola (Grewell) Pearson. For short periods of time, in the 1950's, she lived in Coolidge, Kansas and Holly, Colorado. Most of her life, she made her home in Franklin County, Kansas, until her death Sunday, January 9, 2005, at the age of eighty-one years. Mae attended Ottawa schools and was very proud to complete her GED in 1975. She received her CNA-CMA-Activity Director/Social Service Designee certification from Allen County Community College, Neosho County Community College, and Fort Scott Community College. She worked in laundry, housekeeping, and kitchen at Richmond Care Center and was previously employed at Crestview Care Home in Ottawa, as a CNA-CMA-Activity Director/ Social Service Designee, and was operator, with her husband, of Zero Lockers in Ottawa, owner/operator of Richmond Lockers, and owner of Princeton Grocery. She was a member of Williamsburg Wildlife Association. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Mrs. Moore's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook, and spent many years making Sunday dinner for all her family. She even killed and dressed the chickens herself every week. Among their favorites were her bread, cinnamon rolls, dumplings, and noodles. Every year, she enjoyed planning the family reunions and faithfully took flowers to the cemetery, which included wild flowers, daisies and lilacs. She liked to knit and crochet, and created many lovely items for her family to enjoy through the years. She also enjoyed e-mailing her family, until her eyesight failed. On September 28, 1941, Mae was united in marriage with Fred Albert Moore at Richmond, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1989. She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Bill Moore; son-in-law, Bob Ubelaker; grandson, Clayton Moore; five brothers, Leonard, Henry, Lyle, Denzil, and Don Pearson; two brothers-in-law, Pete Nuss and Fred Alley. Mrs. Moore is survived by three daughters, Shirley James and her husband, Wayne, of Ottawa, Dorothy Ubelaker of Ottawa, Barbara Downey and her husband, Don, of Conroe, TX; four sons, Mike Moore and his wife, Angela, of Princeton, Phil Moore and his wife, Donna, of Ottawa, Clancy Moore and his wife, Becky, of Ottawa, Pat Moore and his wife, Glenda, of Turner, OR; brother, Ken Pearson and his wife, Pat, of Platte City, MO; six sisters-in-law, Peg Pearson of Lyndon, Florence Pearson of Seneca, Nora Pearson of CA, Pat Ziegler of Overland Park, Shirley Nuss of Meade, Alberta Alley of Meade; sixteen grandchildren and their spouses, Rod and Wendy Downey, of TX, Cary James of Pomona, Kelli and Tony Davis of Gardner, Deverlee and Mark Goodrich of Melvern, Ben and Christy Ubelaker of Lawrence, Kevin and Donna Moore of Richmond, Jeff Moore of Ottawa, Tony Moore, who is currently serving in Iraq, John and Amy Moore of OR, Kim and Scott Knox of OR, Billie Rae and Dan Kemper of OR, Rick and Debby Moore of Ottawa, Levi Moore of Ottawa, Chris Moore of Ottawa, Tiffany and Joe Oldham of Gardner; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; special friend, Sheila May; and, several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Jerry Harnden. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Moore at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
