Evelyn Josephine Watts, age 83 of Ottawa, Kansas, died January 9, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on Friday, September 20, 1929 in Olpe, Kansas the daughter of John G. and Anna C. (Scheve) Nuessen. She grew up in Olpe, Kansas later moving to Franklin County where she lived most of her life, residing in Ottawa since the late 1980’s. Evelyn graduated from St. Joseph High School Olpe, Kansas with the class of 1947. She worked nineteen years as a ward clerk at Ransom Memorial Hospital and several years for H.D. Lee as a cylinder operator and later as a secretary at Dengel & Son Mortuary, retiring in the late 1990’s. Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, the Sacred Heart Guild and the Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. On Wednesday, November 2, 1949, Evelyn was united in marriage with Kenneth N. “Pete” Watts at Harriman, Tennessee. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1998 She is survived by her: Son - Kenneth N. “Buzz” Watts and wife Jacque of Olathe, Kansas Son - Charlie J. Hawkins and husband Roy of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter - Kathi H. Watts of Hillsdale, Kansas Brother -Edward Nuessen and wife Lola of Olathe, Kansas Brother - Donald A Nuessen and wife Dee of El Dorado, Kansas Sister - Marie Barrett of Hartford, Kansas Sister - Rose Ann White and husband Larry of Emporia, Kansas Sister - Janice Mercer and husband Clarence of Emporia, Kansas Grandchildren – Twenty-four Great Grandchildren – Thirty-five She is preceded in death by her: Husband – Kenneth “Pete” Watts Parents – John and Anna Nuessen Brother - Melvin Nuessen Brother - Marvin Nuessen Sister - Louise Randall Sister - Helen Coen Brother-in-law – George Randall Brother-in-law – Glen Barrett Great-granddaughter – Reese Avery Watts SERVICES: Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 14, 2013. VISITATION: A Rosary will be said at 5:30 P.M. Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a family and friends visitation at 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday.
