Evelyn Fort

Evelyn Marie Fort, 96, lifelong Miami County resident, died Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Villa Saint Francis in Olathe, Ks. She was born August 2, 1920 at Wea, the daughter of Berthold T. and Margaret Seuferling Seck. On March 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to George R. Fort in Louisburg. He died August 27, 2001. Mrs. Fort was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola. Her parents, son Larry Fort and daughter Nancy Burton, also preceded her in death. Surviving are daughter Dee (John) Baker of Overland Park, son Jay (Marcie) Fort of Shawnee, daughter-in-law Shirley Fort of Wellsville, son-in-law J. W. Burton of Mound City and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Fort was also a great grandmother and great-great grandmother. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 7 at Holy Trinity Church with visitation from 9 to 9:30 with Rosaryat 9:30am. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery at Paola. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
