Evelyn E. Whitley

Evelyn was born October 7, 1915 in Nevada, MO, the daughter of Ernest and Lillie Branstetter Ridgeway. She was united in marriage to Joseph S. Whitley on April 9, 1934 at Harrisonville, MO. She had lived in Louisburg, Overland Park, Somerset and Paola before retiring in 2008. She and her husband owned and operated Joes Drive In " in Louisburg. She worked at Shawnee Mission School District before moving to Paola. After Joe"s retirement they spent time together on the farm in Somerset, later moving to Paola, she spent five years helping her husband Joe during his last years with Alzheimer"s. After her husband"s death she worked at Lakemary Center in Paola as a foster Grandmother for about fifteen years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Louisburg, KS, Eastern Star and VFW Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph S. Whitley and one sister, Frances Northrop. Survivors include one son, David Whitley and wife Marilyn of Pleasant Hill, MO, one daughter, Jo Lynn Sloan and husband Bill of Merriam, KS. Five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The family suggests contributions to Alzheimer"s Association and to Animal Haven.
