Evelyn Carolee Collins

Evelyn Carolee Collins was born on Thursday, October 15, 1914, in Pomona, Kansas. She was the daughter of Percy and Edna (Graffham) Graves. Evelyn lived in Pomona, Kansas twenty-six years and Grantville, Kansas five years, moving to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, in 1948, where she made her home until her death on Monday, December 22, 2008, at the age of ninety-four years. Evelyn graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1932. She was a homemaker and member of the Retired Teacher’s Association. Evelyn was a very caring, lovely lady. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends. On April 18, 1941, Evelyn was united in marriage with Donald M. Collins in the Emerald Community. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1960. She is also preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Collins is survived by three daughters, Kathleen A. Huston and her husband, Paul, of Anaheim Hills, California, Diane M. Farrell and her husband, Ray, of Overland Park, Kansas, Mary E. Fitzpatrick and her husband, Mike, of Tempe, Arizona; stepson, James “Jim” Collins of Talmage, Kansas; two brothers, George Graves of Ottawa, Kansas, Kennedy Graves of Topeka, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel Son Mortuary at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Collins at the Dengel Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to services.
