Eveline M. Sharp

July 6, 1919 — February 8, 2011

Eveline Marie (McShannon) Sharp age 91 of Louisburg, KS passed away Tuesday February 8, 2011 at the Louisburg Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she spent the last six months receiving the most excellent and loving care. Eveline was born in Bloomfield, Nebraska on July 6, 1919 to Anna Nee Clausen McShannon and Duncan McShannon. She was the second of eight children. John, Eveline, Archie, Mortz, Jeanette, Mary Ann, Duncan II, and Betty. Eveline married Elmer Raduechel in 1939 and had two children Duncan and Beverly. During WWII she left northern Nebraska and went to work in Omaha working with her sister Jeanette in the restaurant business. In 1953 she went further south to settle in Louisburg, Kansas, married George Bauer, where she owned and operated the 69 Grill on old 69 Highway for 15 years. During those years Eveline was active in 4H Club, Home Demonstration Units (HDU), American Legion Auxiliary, city and county activities. In 1975 she married David E. Sharp who brought two young sons to the marriage, David and Mark whom she soon adopted as her own. During the next several years Eveline raised David and Mark and was an intricate part of Chateau Builders, her husband David's construction company. Many apartments and homes were built during those years by her husband David in both Johnson and Miami counties. In 1980 Eveline again ventured out into the restaurant business by owning and operating BJs Bar and Grill in Louisburg. After the loss of her husband David in 1992, Eveline handled their rental properties and became even more active in the community and along with her sisters Mary Ann Gilpatrick and Betty June Bauer, they made quite a statement in and around Louisburg, always having fun and on the go. Eveline and sister Mary Ann faithfully attended First Lutheran Church in Paola and dreamed of one day having a Lutheran church in Louisburg. That dream came true in 2005 when another Lutheran contacted Eveline and asked if she would help in starting a Lutheran Church in Louisburg. It was full steam ahead as Eveline helped the church open its doors with 36 members and grow to a congregation of nearly 200 baptized members. What a joy this was to her! She was always busy reading, playing cards, church activities and LWML, traveling and interested in everything. She loved dressing up and driving around town doing errands in her red Cadillac. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and would tell that to all she encountered. She loved seeing her grandchildren, all eight of them grow and bloom. In addition, she was blessed with 14 great grandchildren, 1 son in law, Loren England, 3 daughter in laws, Cortessa Sharp, Tonja Sharp, Vicki Raduechel and a host of nieces, nephews and many loving neighbors and friends. She leaves us to join her Lord in heaven, where she wears her crown of glory! With us she leaves fond memories of loving times together. She will be greatly missed by all! Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Louisburg, KS. Burial to follow in the Louisburg Cemetery.
