Eva M. Hanes-Humphreys was born on Monday, July 11, 1910, in Lovell, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Frank Edward and Bessie Ann (Tilford) Andrew. She lived many years in Ottawa, Kansas moving to John Knox Village in Lee's Summit, Missouri in April of 1977, where she made her home, until her death on Sunday, February 19, 2006, at the age of ninety-five years. Eva graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1928. Eva, along with her first husband, owned and operated Hanes Florist for twenty-five years in Ottawa. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Ottawa and, later, the Village Church at John Knox Village. She was Past Matron and over fifty year member of Union Chapter #15, Order of Eastern Star, Past Commander of Retta Conclave #8, Order of True Kindred, and Past President of Ottawa Assembly #136, Social Order of the Beauceant. On June 14, 1930, Eva was united in marriage with Lyle Hanes. He preceded her in death on February 29, 1964. On April 14, 1977, she was united in marriage with William Stewart Humphreys in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1994. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Edna Wilper, Ruth Rodgers; and two brothers, Charles Andrew and Robert Andrew. She is survived by two sons, Don Hanes of Topeka, Kansas, Lyle Hanes of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Moorehead of Osawatomie, Kansas; four grandchildren, Steve Hanes of Austin, Texas, Kimberly Hodgson of Topeka, Kansas, Kelly Johnson of Osawatomie, Kansas, Andrea Gaines of Evanston, Illinois; one brother Harold Andrew of Auburn, Washington; eleven great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Humphreys at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Friday evening.
