Eunice Marie Kuhn

Eunice Marie Kuhn, 81, passed into the glorious presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at her home in Stilwell, KS. Eunice was born April 22, 1927 in Elmhurst, Illinois, the daughter of John and Zelma Sveinson. When she was three, her family moved to Chicago, where they spent the next fifteen years. Her home was about three blocks from Moody church, which soon became her second home and provided many happy memories. She was active in several church youth clubs and sang in a girls" sextet and a mixed quartet. After graduating from Waller High School, Chicago, IL. in 1945, Eunice worked as secretary for the following companies in Illinois: Wallace A. Erickson Chemical, Chicago (while in high school); Employers Liability Assurance, Chicago; Scriptures Visualized, Wheaton; Van Kampen Press, Wheaton; and Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works, Elgin. She was united in marriage to Gustav O. Kuhn, a widower with four children on December 3, 1966. The family lived ten years in rural Barrington, six years in Elgin and in 1978, she and her husband moved to Stilwell, KS. During these years she worked part-time as church secretary for First Christian Church in Elgin IL.; Southwest Bible Church in Prairie Village KS; and Grace Bible Church in Bucyrus, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Gustav O. Kuhn of 42 years; sister, Arlene M. Huffstutler of Hampshire, IL., and brother, Vern H. Sveinson of Elgin, IL.; daughters, Margaret E. Shreve and husband Donald of Rockford, IL., Catherine L. Brown of Pullman, WA., Dorothy M. Garvin and husband John of Brunswick, GA.; son, Daniel O. Kuhn and wife Sherry of Stilwell, KS., and nine grandchildren. Eunice was a faithful and caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by all. Her loving presence and wonderful cooking always made her home a peaceful and enjoyable place to be. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at Grace Bible Church, 19855 S. Antioch Road, Bucyrus, KS. A funeral service will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2009 with graveside service following at Aubry Cemetery.
