Eugene M. Taylor, age 88 of Williamsburg, Kansas, died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on Saturday, June 02, 1923 in Greenfield, Oklahoma the son of Joseph Taylor and Ruth D. (Vanlehn) Taylor. Eugene lived in Greenfield, Oklahoma until 1941 and after military service he moved with his construction work until moving to Gardner, Kansas in 1950 and to Williamsburg in 1987. He graduated from Greenfield (Oklahoma) High School with the class of 1941. Eugene worked forty years in highway construction through Operating Engineers Local 101. He worked for Amos Construction, Oklahoma City; C.F. Lytle, Souix City, Iowa; Guy James, Oklahoma City; Wonder Lake, Denver, Colorado; Reno Construction and Apac Construction, Ashland, Kentucky. Eugene served during World War II from June 9, 1943 until December 13, 1945 in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate, Third Class. On November 5, 1942 Eugene was united in marriage with Celia Pauline Wosley at Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2003. He is survived by his: Son - Rockey Carlton Eugene Taylor and his wife, Shirley, Wellsville, KS; Grandson- Aaron Presley Eugene; Taylor and his wife Terri, Ottawa; Five- Great Grandchildren: Jude Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Destiny Taylor, Kay Taylor, Joey Taylor all of Ottawa; Sister-Vita Arndt and her husband, Dwayne, Lawton, OK; Sister-Rita Johns, Hot Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his: Wife- Celia Pauline Wosley; Mother- Ruth D. (Vanlehn) Taylor; Father-Joseph Taylor; Sister- Cordia Hyle and Brother-Onis Taylor. Services: Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011. In State: Mr. Taylor will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9 a.m. Wednesday to the service hour. Cemetery: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas.
