Eugene J. Domnanish, age 86, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009. He was born on Saturday, May 12, 1923 in Princeton, Kansas. He was the son of Joseph B. and Clara (Rubick) Domnanish. Eugene and his wife, Hazel, lived east of Princeton until retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1987, moving to Ottawa in 2005, and Olathe in 2009. Eugene graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1941. He was a lifelong farmer. From 1959 to 1985, he was a DeKalb Seed dealer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, where he served on the Church Council and was the chairman of the building committee for the new church building following the fire. He was a Princeton School Board member and helped with consolidation of the rural schools that created Central Heights Schools. He was also involved with establishing Garst Baseball Field at Princeton and was a former member of Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. On Monday, October 23, 1944, Eugene was united in marriage with Hazel Perry in Scipio, Kansas. They recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Hazel (Perry) Domnanish of the home Daughter-Patricia Domnanish of Kansas City, Kansas Son-Dennis Domnanish of Princeton, Kansas Daughter-Rita Murphy of Shawnee, Kansas Daughter-Carolyn Dahl and her husband, Merlin, of Finley, North Dakota Son-James Domnanish of Spring,Texas Son-Terrance Domnanish and his wife, Maria, of Paola, Kansas Sister-Lillian Kamuf of Kansas City, Missouri Nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his: Father-Joseph B. Domnanish Mother-Clara (Rubick) Domnanish Sister-Gladys Smith Sister-Emma Brook Brother-Joseph B. Domnanish, Jr. Brother-Edward S. Domnanish SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009. IN STATE: Mr. Domnanish will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 Wednesday evening, followed by a visitation from 7:00 to 8:00.
