Ethel May Mignot

Ethel May Mignot was born May 12, 1913, at Vancouver, Canada. She was the daughter of Lee and Anna (Walters) Sumner. Ethel grew up in the Edgerton, Kansas area, then lived on a farm north of Wellsville. She moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in November of 1975. She resided in Long Term Care in Garnett, Kansas, until her death Friday, October 10, 2003, at the age of ninety years. She graduated from Edgerton High School with the class of 1931. Mrs. Mignot was a lifelong homemaker. She was a member of North Baptist Church in Ottawa. Ethel was an expert seamstress and created many lovely items for her family and friends to enjoy. She liked to go fishing, work in her garden and care for her flowers. She also liked to work crossword puzzles. Most important to Ethel were her grandchildren and spending time with her family. On February 20, 1934, Ethel was united in marriage with Emery Mignot at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death December 15, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Dorothy Seyler; two sisters, Pearl Sumner, Sophia Pike; and brother, Weldon Sumner. She is survived by two daughters, Clarice McLaughlin of Garnett, Kansas, Pauline Henery and her husband, Herman, of Goff, Kansas; three sons, Floyd Mignot of Wellsville, Kansas, Robert Mignot and his wife, Bonnie, of Wellsville, Arthur Mignot and his wife, Carol, of Baldwin City, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: IN STATE: Mrs. Mignot will lie in state after 3p.m. Sunday, October 12, 2003 at Dengel & Son Mortuary until service hour, where the family will meet with friends 6:30 - 7:30 Monday evening. CEMETERY: Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, Kansas. MEMORIALS: Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer`s Association c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S. Hickory in Ottawa, Ks 66067. .
