Ethel Marie Cade

Ethel Marie Cade was born on May 5, 1910, in Pomona, Kansas. She was the daughter of Elmer and Nettie (Lowell) Swallow. Ethel was a lifelong resident of Pomona until moving to Emporia in 1992, where she made her home until her death on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the age of ninety-nine years. She graduated from Boyd Elementary School and Pomona High School with the class of 1928. Ethel was a homemaker. For ten years, she managed the Eugene Browning Mercantile Store in Pomona, retiring in 1979. Ethel was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church, and former member of several social groups in the Pomona area. On November 22, 1930, Ethel was united in marriage with Harold G. Cade in Lyndon, Kansas. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1999. She is survived by her: Daughter-Carol Ann Bolen and her husband, Dennis, of Emporia, Kansas; Grandson-Mark Bolen and his wife, Donna of Olpe, Kansas; Granddaughter-Cindy Henderson and her husband, Mike, of Olpe, Kansas Great-Granddaughter-Katelyn Henderson of Olpe, Kansas; Great-Granddaughter-Haley Henderson of Olpe, Kansas; Great-Grandson-Wyatt Bolen of Olpe, Kansas; She was preceded in death by her: Husband-Harold G. Cade Parents-Elmer and Nettie Swallow Brother-John Swallow Brother-Clarence Swallow Brother-Vernon Swallow Brother-Albert Swallow Brother-Jack Swallow Sister-Alice Chambers SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at Pomona United Methodist Church in Pomona, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. IN STATE: Mrs. Cade will lie in state from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa.
