Ethel Goodeyon

Ethel Charlotte Quincy Goodeyon, age 87, of Paola, passed away December 30, 2015 at Spring Hill, Kansas. She was born in rural Miami County, Kansas on July 26, 1928 to parents John Horatio Quincy and Esther May Sims Quincy, their fourth child of five. She attended rural schools until beginning high school in Louisburg, Kansas. Her family moved to the Paola area when she was a high school junior, she graduated from Paola High School with the class of 1946. Later that year Ethel married Louie Franklin Goodeyon in Paola, Kansas October 5, 1946. When Louie passed away in August, 2006, they were just two months short of their 60th anniversary. They became the parents of two children, Dixie Borovicka, Paola, and Jerry Goodeyon, Ripon, CA. Ethel was a homemaker for most of her married life but had several short term employments. However, she did work at Smith and Company for several years beginning in the 1970's. One of her favorite hobbies was to make homemade doughnuts and cinnamon rolls, which she generously shared with family, friends, and neighbors. She and Louie enjoyed traveling, mostly to Colorado and California to visit family, especially their grandchildren. Her Christian faith was her way of life and she raised her family according to those beliefs. She taught Sunday School for over 40 years. Her current church was First Baptist Church, Paola and the congregation has made her part of their family, even though she was not able to attend for the last few years. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Louie, her parents, and brothers, Louis, Orrin and Fred Quincy. She is survived by her daughter, Dixie Borovicka (David), Paola, KS, her son Jerry Goodeyon (Adele), Ripon, CA, and her sister, Edith Kester, Oklahoma City, OK. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Chris Borovicka (Lesley), Jefferson City, MO, Lisa Allen (Joe), Stockton, CA, and Bryan Goodeyon (Jeana), Ripon, CA. The very special love of her life was her great-grandchildren, Dane Borovicka, Alli Borovicka, Jefferson City, MO, Morgan Allen, Stockton, CA and Bryanna Goodeyon, Ripon, CA.
