Ethel Grace Chapman age 98, of Wichita, Kansas , passed away August 31, 2016 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas. Ethel was born April 6, 1918 in Louisburg, Kansas the daughter of Ralph I. and Edith V. ( Rogers) Martin. Ethel was raised on a farm in Miami County, Kansas near Louisburg. She learned about hard work as a child and was fond of telling how she helped her father care for the animals on the farm. Her love for animals was never more obvious than in her devotion to her pets. She could not stand to see an animal go hungry or be mistreated. Ethel, loved life and didn't shy away from trying her best to help anyone with her quick witted, sometimes pointed advice. Somehow she always had "the answer". Ethel graduated as Valedictorian from Louisburg High School May 18, 1939. She was always excited to learn something new, but had to check it out herself to be sure. She was married to Everett M. "Buddy" Chapman August 16, 1946 in Kansas City, MO. They had one daughter, Barbara L. Meier who is living in Wichita with her husband Richard. She was a devoted, caring wife and mother who worked hard to provide the best for her family. She had many occupations but was last employed by Shepler's Western Wear as sales associate in men's clothing. She lived in Wichita since 1953, most recently as a resident of the Towers assisted living unit of Kansas Masonic Home. Her smile and quick wit will be remembered most about her.
