Esda Faye McGrath was born February 8, 1911, at Centropolis, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of James Loyd and Ida Pearl (Barnhart) Sink. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident moving to Branson, Missouri in 1994, where she made her home until her death Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the age of ninety-one years. She was a lifelong homemaker. To those of us who knew her, Esda will be remembered for the gift of family and friends and delight in the simple things of life. Like Martha, she provided the environment where conversation, music and Grandma's home cooking could bring the words of Genesis to mind. She gave life. She made a place for us all, and she saw that it was good. Her creative energy and love of people was displayed throughout her life in her beautiful paintings and her collections of antiques and Hummel figurines. She gave us an appreciation of beauty and showed, by example, the ability to recognize its diversity. For those who loved her, she was 'true beauty found.' She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Ottawa. On November 12, 1935, Esda was united in marriage with Gerald W. McGrath at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1997. She is also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Everett 'Bill' Sink. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Fran McGrath of Pittsburg, Kansas, son, James McGrath of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Everett Avery of Kimberling City, Missouri; four grandsons, Christopher Avery, Mark Avery, John McGrath, Matthew McGrath; two granddaughters, Kathleen McGrath, Sarah McGrath; four great-grandsons, George Avery, John Avery, Benjamin Avery, Daniel Bauman; two great-granddaughters, Alison McGrath Andersen, Hannah McGrath Bauman; sister, Zella Stine; brother-in-law, Harry McGrath; and, several nieces and nephews, Mike and Karen Stine, Dee and David Richeson, H. L. Sink, Sheila and Dallas Phillips, Jean and Matt Floersch, Bill and Mary McGrath, Gloria and Kenneth Evans, and Bill Sink.
